Little Boy's Backyard

Since we are moving this summer, I thought I would start talking about the move with Aidan to prepare him. Trying to get him excited, we starting talking about how we are going to have a backyard and I asked him what he would want to have in it. Typical responses like a sand box, a swing, a slide, etc. came intially. Later at dinner time, Aidan must have been thinking about his backyard again and asked the question all parents dread....."Can we put a dog in our backyard?" I thought I would be able to answer with a simple no, but before I could get it out of my lips Aidan continued..."No wait, we need 4 dogs cause we are a four family!" Apparently we each need our own dog.

Davis' Nash Gash

Being a lover of basketball sooo much, Davis decided to join Steve Nash in the nose department. Except for the fact that Davis' gash came from a cooking utensil, not from being in the heat of a critical play-off game. Oh well.....

Note to all you moms out there - Liquid Bandage works great!

God's Will For Cartoon Monkeys

Tonight after Aidan and I practiced his next memory verse - Genesis 3:6 - I explained to him (in light of having memorized Genesis 2:17) that even when God tells us 'no' for some things they often still look good to us, but we must never do or take something God has said 'no' to.

"Does God say no to Curious George when Curious George is peeling bananas?"

God's Transportation

I was lying on my bed yesterday evening reading a book for my class in June when Aidan wandered into the room.

"What are you reading, Daddy?"

"It's a book for Daddy's class he is going to take at school."

"Oh, what's it about?"

"It's about being a missionary. Do you know what a missionary is?"

"Yeah...uh, no."

"It's someone who tells someone about Jesus when they have never heard about him before. Do you think you want to be a missionary someday?"

"Yeah."

(I realize that I could have asked him if he wanted to be a milk man on the moon and he would have said yes, but it never hurts to start)

"Usually missionaries have to leave their homes and families and go far away to tell people about Jesus."

"Oh, does God have a car that he would come to pick me up in?"

Who's Stinky?

Aidan got up early again today and opted for toys over chocolate milk and blankies with Mommy. When I got back from jogging he wanted me to read him a story. To which I replied, "Daddy needs to take a shower because he's stinky." To which Aidan replied,

"You're not stinky. You don't wear a diaper!"

Long Over Due

I should have started this 3 years ago, anyway- we thought (with our third due late July/early August) that we should finally have a place for family to keep up with the things our kids are doing. We'll post pictures and anything else our kids do that we think might be appreciated by family.

This morning I got back from running with a friend at 6am. Usually when I get back the house is silent- but this morning when I came in our front door I heard Mr. Rogers singing and found Aidan on the couch with remote in hand.

"I'm trying to watch cartoons, Daddy."

"It's too early for cartoons, buddy."

"Why is that guy changing his clothes?"

A few minutes later I went to take a shower and Aidan informed me I needed to close the door to the bathroom. Just barely into my shower, he began knocking on my door. After ignoring me for a minute or so he opened the door and told me,

"Daddy, Thomas is the cheeky one. James is vain but lots of fun."
